    Welcome to exotic Morocco.

Morocco is at the crossroads of Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Situated on the north western side of Africa, its west coast bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Morocco is a country of great contrasts. A vast country of 711,000 sq kms, and populated by 33 million people, Morocco has scenery and experiences to cater for all types of travellers. Whether discovering the medina of medieval Fez, or trekking through the Atlas Mountains, your senses will be overloaded in this most exotic country.

Morocco's history dates back 200,000 B.C. and during prehistoric times, the Berbers were the country's first inhabitants. In the 19th century, the French, English and Spanish moved in wishing to extend their colonies. Morocco is now ruled by Mohammed VI, the eighteenth king.

The major cities of interest are Fez - famous for its world heritage listed medina; Marrakech - featuring salmon pink buildings of the old city; Essaouira - the 18th century port town on the Atlantic Coast; Agadir - Morocco's main beach resort; Casablanca - a large and modern city; Rabat - cosmopolitan capital since 1956; Meknes - Morocco's third imperial city.

Apart from the cities and towns, many of Morocco's greatest highlights are its naturally stunning and diverse scenery. The Rif Mountains in the north crescent from Tangier to the Algerian border and highlight the dramatic rugged terrain plunging into the Mediterranean Sea. The famous Middle, High and Anti Atlas Mountains are geographically situated in the very heart of Morocco, and offer such diverse scenery as waterfalls, green valleys, volcanic mountains, wooded forests, ragged gorges and desert landscapes.

For the traveller, Morocco is truly a delight to all the senses and has so much to offer in so many ways. Whether experiencing the traditional hammam (Moroccan bathing ritual), relaxing in the cool courtyard of your riad (traditional accommodation), excitedly bargaining for a berber carpet or trekking the Atlas Mountains, Morocco has something to offer every traveller.
